The 1st Sarapu Cup tournament for 2014 attracted 67 avid competitors. The event was enjoyed by all as you can see from the lively photos.

Chess Power Staff

Paul Macdonald was the Chief Arbiter for the Pawns and Knights divisions.

Bruce Pollard was the Chief Arbiter for the Rooks and Kings divisions.

Roshan Gallage was the Assistant Arbiter for the Pawns and Knights divisions.

Gino Thornton was the Master in the Master Challenge™

Jade Macdonald ran the Chess Power Store and the Lolli Scramble. And last but not least Liam Macdonald ran the kitchen.

The Fastest Cowboy in the West™ was Rishit Patel who managed 18 seconds this time around. Rishit picks up $10 Chess Power dollars.
Knights Tour Challenge™ Selwyn Lin won the Knights Tour Challenge and $10 Chess Power dollars.
Hungry Knight™ The Hungry Knight™ score was 117. Richard Meng got the closest guess with 121 and picks up $20 Chess Power dollars. ]
Broken Board™ puzzle The new Broken Board puzzle still remains unsolved.

Master Challenge™ The Master Challenge™ is back! Today Master Gino conquered all.

Biggest Upset

The biggest upsets seemed to mostly occur during the 5th round. Perhaps the stronger players on paper were getting a little tired! The biggest upsets were as follows:

Pawns division Selwyn Lin winning against Logan Griffiths in Round 6. Selwyn picks up a $5 Chess Power Gift Voucher.
Knights division Timothy Ravi winning against Noam Rabinovich in Round 1. Timothy wins a $5 Chess Power Gift Voucher.
Rooks division David Xu for his great win against Sehej Juneja in Round 2. David wins a $10 Chess Power Gift Voucher.
Kings division

Brijesh Sivabalan for victory against Oliver Picken in the last round. Brijesh wins a $20 Chess Power Gift Voucher for this win.

Biggest Gainer

Biggest Gainer™ Oscar Qin wins a 20 Chess Power Gift Voucher for gaining 73 rating points!
