Miu brings a wealth of experience as an educator and also a champion of Chess in the Rotorua area. Miu runs the Rotorua Sarapu Cup and is an inspiration to kids who are looking to delve into learning and growing through chess.
Why do you love Chess?
I love the challenge that comes with playing chess. The beauty of the game is that there is always more to learn. It gives me a platform to grow, develop, and constantly improve.
Why do you enjoy working with kids?
As an educator, I find great satisfaction in working with children and helping them realise their potential. I love to see children succeed and get excited about their learning, and being a part of that process is extremely rewarding.
What are your main Chess achievements?
I take great pride in giving students the skills and experiences necessary to thrive in Chess. After establishing a school club, we've now taken two teams to the Chess Power nationals event.
How do you think Chess helps kids?
As a school teacher and coach, I've seen Chess transform my students in the most amazing ways. Students develop resilience, self-confidence, patience, and a love for learning.
