Why do you love chess?

I love chess because it’s a game that:

  • Sharpens the mind

  • Encourages strategic thinking

  • Teaches valuable life lessons such as patience, planning, and resilience

Every game is a new opportunity to learn and grow.


When/how did you first learn to play?

I first learned to play chess six years ago, while attending training sessions with my daughter at a chess academy in Sri Lanka. Supporting her journey sparked my own interest, and it quickly grew into a deep personal passion.


Why do you enjoy working with kids?

Working with kids is incredibly fulfilling. Their curiosity, creativity, and energy make every session unique. I enjoy helping them:

  • Build confidence

  • Strengthen problem-solving skills

  • Grow both on and off the chessboard


What are your main chess achievements?

How do you think chess helps kids?
