School's Checkmate Challenge

A FANTASTIC ONLINE SCHOOL'S CHALLENGE!

This is a team event and schools should enter players as part of a team (preferably a minimum of 4 players)

When:  The second Thursday of every month (from March - September)

Time:  11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

Cost:  $20 per student ($15 per student when you register 15 or more students)

  • SCHOOLS will be sent an invoice after the event
  • PARENTS can make payment through Tornelo (entry website)

Where:  Online

Format:  The time control will be 5 rounds with 15 minutes per player.

Divisions:

  • The Junior division is for players from Year 1 through to Year 6
  • The Intermediate division is for players from Year 7 - Year 8
  • The Senior division is for players from Year 9 – Year 13

Online Tournaments:

  • IMPORTANT please go to our ONLINE EVENT RULES page and make sure you familiarize yourself with the online event rules whether playing at school or at home.
  • Players will need to use the same login details that they were registered with to connect on the day.
  • Each player will need their own device (Laptop, iPad or Tablet)

Why should I play?

  • The winning team each month, in each division, qualifies for the Chess Power National Finals!
  • The top three individual players, in each division, each month qualify for the Chess Power Champions Trophy!

All students MUST be registered prior to the event starting!

Venue: Online

Online events are run using two platforms:

  • Zoom for video/audio communications
  • Tornelo for chess games

To prepare for this event you will need:

  • access to a device with internet access
  • a web camera
  • a microphone

As we lead up to the event you will be sent a communication with the links for both Zoom and Tornelo.
