What do you think makes you a good coach?

As a mother of three young children, I am deeply passionate about working with kids and helping them develop skills that strengthen their thinking and shape them into well-rounded individuals. Nurturing my own children has equipped me with patience, empathy, and the ability to communicate effectively with young minds.

I believe chess is a powerful tool for personal growth. It fosters critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills in children. My dedication to creating a positive, encouraging, and engaging learning environment is what makes me a strong coach.

What are your key strengths?

  • Patience and Empathy – My experience as a mother has taught me how to connect with children on an emotional level and respond to their needs thoughtfully.

  • Strong Communication Skills – I can explain complex ideas in a way that is simple, clear, and engaging for young learners.

  • Organizational Abilities – My involvement in coordinating various events has strengthened my planning and time management skills.

  • Passion for Chess – My deep love for the game motivates me to inspire and support others in their chess journey.

Why do you love chess?

I love chess because it is a game that constantly challenges the mind and demands strategic thinking. I was first introduced to chess by my father, whose passion for the game left a lasting impact on me.

For me, chess is not just about winning—it's about learning, improving, and developing life skills such as patience, perseverance, and planning ahead. The game continues to push me to think both critically and creatively, which is why I find it so rewarding.

When and how did you first learn to play?

I learned to play chess at a young age, taught by my father. His enthusiasm for the game sparked my own interest, and I quickly developed a strong connection to it.

During my college years, I actively participated in competitive chess, where I had the opportunity to lead the Avondale Girls Chess Team and reach several important milestones that further deepened my passion.

Why do you enjoy working with kids?

I love working with children because of their natural energy, curiosity, and openness to learning. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and it's incredibly fulfilling to watch them grow in confidence and skill.

Working with kids gives me the opportunity to make a meaningful difference—to help shape not only their chess abilities but also their self-belief and love of learning.
