I have experience presenting complex information to a variety of audiences. This often required me to quickly learn new concepts and summarise them in a simpler, more digestible form. I believe this will be a crucial skill for teaching the more complex aspects of chess to my students.
I’ve been told that I am very empathetic and a great listener. I believe these qualities will allow me to recognise and support the individual needs of my students, helping each one feel seen and understood.
No other game I’ve played has forced me to slow down and think quite like chess. I love how it challenges you to form your own strategy while also anticipating your opponent’s next move. For me, there is no game quite like it — and the fact that I still have so much to learn only excites me more as I begin my journey with Chess Power.
I first learned how to play chess in primary school, and at home with my brother. I briefly joined a chess club at age 7 to learn more, but without much support from the supervisor, I found the experience frustrating and disheartening, and didn’t stay long. That experience taught me how important support and encouragement are for young learners — and it motivates me to become the kind of coach who helps kids feel confident and included, especially if they feel left behind.
I love seeing the infinite curiosity and enthusiasm that kids bring to the world around them. Childhood is a very special time, and I look forward to being a positive and consistent part of their week, where they feel supported, engaged, and empowered.
I don’t have any significant formal achievements in chess — but I’m deeply driven by my passion for helping others learn. I’m committed to improving my own game so that I can become a better teacher and role model. My greatest satisfaction will come from watching my students achieve their goals.
Strategic thinking and planning ahead are essential life skills, and chess is the perfect environment for young minds to develop them. It’s an engaging, hands-on game that not only builds confidence but also gives clear, tangible rewards as kids improve — helping them grow both in and out of the game.
