What do you think makes you a good coach?

As a student myself, I can relate to the benefits of good teaching and the challenges of poor teaching. I apply what I believe are the best methods to make learning chess fun, enjoyable, and effective.

What are your key strengths?

I believe I can create a fun and engaging environment for students while helping them grow and learn. I'm able to communicate ideas and techniques clearly to young people, making chess more accessible and interesting.

Why do you love chess?

Chess is a purely strategic game with endless possibilities. It’s a fun way to train your brain and a productive way to overcome boredom.

When and how did you first learn to play?

I first learned to play chess during the COVID-19 pandemic. While stuck at home, I picked up chess as a hobby and quickly grew to love it through online learning and content.

Why do you enjoy working with kids?

I enjoy helping kids grow and develop. Watching them improve and succeed gives me a genuine sense of joy and accomplishment.

What are your main chess achievements?

I'm a member of my school chess team, which has won several regional interschool tournaments in Auckland. I am also the co-leader of my school’s chess club.

How do you think chess helps kids?

I believe chess helps children develop memory skills, pattern recognition, focus, and concentration — all of which are important across many areas of their education and life.
