What do you think makes you a good coach?

I believe the best coach is chill, flexible, and supportive. I get to know what each student is good at and where they struggle, then adjust my teaching to lift their skills—while keeping lessons enjoyable and lively. I set the tone by leading with passion and solid play, which encourages students to give their best.

What are your key strengths?

  • Communication, patience, and problem-solving

  • Breaking down complex ideas into clear, step-by-step lessons

  • Observant and responsive—I switch approaches as soon as I see a student getting stuck

Why do you love Chess?

Chess mirrors real life. Every game has its own rhythm, and I love finding strategies, anticipating what’s next, and learning from mistakes. The game has taught me discipline, patience, and strategic thinking—qualities I enjoy passing on.

When/how did you first learn to play?

I first learned Chess at age 6 from my grandfather in Jakarta, Indonesia. I was fascinated by how each piece moved and the thinking behind every plan. I’ve played ever since, explored tactics, inspired others—and I still have my first chessboard, which deepened my appreciation for the game.

Why do you enjoy working with kids?

Kids are lively and full of potential. Teaching them is incredibly rewarding—I get to watch their confidence and skills grow. I love helping them find strategies, celebrating milestones, and building problem-solving habits in a calm, encouraging environment.

What are your main Chess achievements?

While I don’t list many personal tournament results, I’m proudest of the progress of players I’ve supported. Seeing students improve keeps me motivated to sustain their passion for chess. I’ve also developed solid strategic understanding that helps others get better.

How do you think Chess helps kids?

Chess strengthens critical thinking, planning, and focus. It teaches patience, perseverance, and fair play. Beyond the board, it builds confidence and equips kids to tackle problems—useful in school and everyday life.
