I believe my ability to teach complex board games and explain rules clearly makes me well-suited to coaching young chess players. I also enjoy commentating and predicting potential moves in real time, which helps students understand strategy as it unfolds.
My hands-on teaching approach has been strengthened through my recent experience as a volunteer Scouts leader for primary and intermediate students, where I learned how to engage and communicate effectively with children.
One of my greatest strengths is staying calm under pressure, especially in critical moments of a game — a mindset that also applies to making important life decisions. I believe chess helps kids develop critical thinking and creativity, both on and off the board.
Chess connects people of all ages and helps build confidence while offering a way to relax and unwind after a long day. I find it deeply satisfying to place highly or win in online tournaments and watch my ranking improve over time.
I placed third in a high school mini tournament, and although I took a break from competition afterward, I’ve recently rekindled my passion for chess—especially after being inspired by The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix.
Chess teaches children to think ahead and see the bigger picture, an invaluable skill in today’s world. It also helps bring kids together through a shared interest, encouraging even the more introverted players to connect and grow.
