What do you think makes you a good coach?

I’m a good chess coach because I can explain tactics and strategy in multiple ways, making concepts easier to understand for students with different learning styles. I also focus on making the game fun and engaging, especially for kids, so they stay motivated and enjoy learning.

I use a variety of training methods—puzzles, games, analysis, and practical exercises—so students can learn in different ways and build real confidence over time.

What are your key strengths?

My key strengths are adaptability, clear communication, and engagement. I’m able to explain chess tactics and strategy in different ways, which helps students of all levels understand complex ideas more easily.

Why do you love chess?

I love chess because it’s not just a game; it’s a way of thinking. It teaches patience, creativity, and problem-solving, and every position feels like a new puzzle to solve. I enjoy how chess challenges you to think ahead, learn from mistakes, and constantly improve.

What makes it even more special is that chess is a game you can enjoy at any age, even later in life—unlike many other games—making it truly timeless.

When and how did you first learn to play?

My dad inspired me to learn chess when I watched him play with his friends. He taught me how to move the pieces when I was six years old.

Why do you enjoy working with kids?

I enjoy working with kids because it’s very satisfying to help them improve at a game I love. It’s especially rewarding to see their confidence grow, and to watch some of them choose chess as their favourite game and work hard to excel at it.

What are your main chess achievements?

Playing achievements

I was the strongest junior player in Egypt across multiple age categories for ten consecutive years. I also won first place in the African Youth Chess Championship five times, along with many other top results in both individual and team tournaments.

Coaching achievements

I have coached players from beginner level to advanced tournament competitors. I’ve prepared students for school, club, and FIDE-rated tournaments, helping them build strong foundations, confidence, and competitive experience.

How do you think chess helps kids?

Chess helps kids develop a strong way of thinking. It teaches patience, creativity, and problem-solving, and encourages them to think ahead and plan their decisions. Every game is like a puzzle, which helps kids learn to analyze situations and find solutions.

It also teaches children how to learn from mistakes, build resilience, and keep improving. Most importantly, it helps them discover that learning can be fun and rewarding, which builds confidence both on and off the board.
