As a father of two daughters, I value encouragement and teaching life skills through chess. I aim to help students build confidence, learn from mistakes, and enjoy the process of improving.
Spending time with my dad was rare and deeply cherished when I was a child, so I developed a love for playing chess with him.
I learned to play chess from my dad and, as a child, joined the Milo Chess Summer Club in the Philippines.
Kids can surprise you with their creative problem-solving and how quickly they learn. Watching them achieve beyond what they imagined fills me with pride.
Winning a chess game is a great achievement, but I believe it’s just as important to nurture qualities like humility and sportsmanship, which help children become better individuals and build essential life skills.
Chess also teaches that losing is part of learning. Children learn to accept setbacks, keep moving forward, and tackle challenges—just as they will in real life.
