The National Final 2020 welcome letter will be posted here as we get closer to the event.

The venue for the National Final for all divisions has not been finalised yet but it will be in Auckland.

National Finals Trophies

The list of teams qualified for the National Finals is listed below including the maximum allowed size of your team. You should bring a minimum of 4 players.

Refer to the National Finals FAQ for more information.

Once registrations get underway, you will be able to view the schools that have registered teams to date on our official National Finals 2020 tournament page.

You can also view the photos from the Chess Power National Finals 2019.

As we get closer to the event, you will have the opportunity to find out all the details of the event including attire, parking, directions once you arrive, meals on the day and prizes.

Tournament Registration

If your school has qualified it will be listed above with the number of places you have qualified for. An invitation letter will also be sent to you. You will need to RSVP confirming your attendance and pay prior to Saturday 3 October 2020.

Chess Power National Finals 2015 Intermediate Division Champions

You should send a minimum of four players up to the stated maximum number of places you have qualified for.

If you are still stuck, please email your team names to nationalfinals@chesspower.co.nz including the division you are entering (Junior, Intermediate or Senior) and the Gender and Date of Birth of players.

The fee for Nationals is $250+GST per team. Payment options are;

We will contact you on receipt of your payment confirming acceptance of your registration.


We will advise accommodation options when they are confirmed.



This year catering will be provided via on-site catering trucks. Players will be given a $5 discount vouchers on the day to help with food expenses. Players can bring their own food as well.
