The next Online Queen's Cup will take place on the 26th of May.

A first in NZ, Chess Power introduces a regular tournament just for girls!

Held every two months on the 4th Wednesday of the month.
Held within school hours: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm to be more accessible to ALL female players!

REGISTRATION IS STILL MANDATORY FOR THE ONLINE TOURNAMENT IN ORDER TO SECURE YOUR PLACE!

Online Tournaments:

Go to our ONLINE TOURNAMENTS page to learn how to connect to the tournament.
Each player will need their own device (Laptop, iPad or Tablet)
You will be sent a Zoom Link and a Tornelo link prior to the tournament. The Zoom link connects students to the Video/Audio and Tornelo connects students to their games.
Also open to female players in Australia! (Australian players are not eligible for Trophies & Medals)

Format

Dames, Countess, Princess and Queens Divisions - Four 7 round Swiss tournaments with a time control of 15 minutes for each player. Each game lasts 30 minutes maximum.

	Dames Division The Dames Division is for girls who are new to Chess and are still taking their first steps. We recommend girls that have a Chess Power Rating of less than 400 points. You can only enter this division if you have played in five or less Queens Cup's. If this is your first Chess tournament we recommend you play in the Dames division even if you have been playing Chess for some time. Your rating can be checked by searching on Tornelo - our tournament management system.
	Countess Division The Countess Division is for girls who have gained some confidence in Chess, perhaps played in a few tournaments but aren't established players yet. We recommend this division for girls with a Chess Power Rating of between 400 and 700 points. If you have played in more than five Sarapu Cup's you have to play in this division or higher.
	Princess Division The Princess Division is designed for established players that are highly confident and have experience. We recommend the Princess division for girls with a Chess Power Rating of 700-900 points.
	Queens Division The Queens Division is designed for established players that are highly confident and have experience. We recommend the Queens division for players with a Chess Power Rating of over 900 points. You can enter the Queens Division on request, even if your rating is below 900 points, however be prepared for some very tough games!

Player Check-In: from 09:45am
Start Time: 10:00am
Finish Time: Approximately 2:00pm

The tournament starts at 10.00 am. Please ensure you are online by 09:45am for tournament registration.

Prizes

TROPHIES & MEDALS WILL BE POSTED TO WINNERS.
1st overall in each division wins a trophy to keep.
2nd and 3rd places in each division wins a special medal to keep.
The top 3 players in the Queens division qualify for the Chess Power Champions Trophy 2021

Eligibility

The Queens Cup is open to girls only between 4 and 18. No adults are allowed to play.

Rating

All games will be rated using the Chess Power ratings system available by searching our Tornelo ratings website.

Entry Fees

$30 per entry

SCHOOLS will be sent an invoice after the event
PARENTS can make payment through Tornelo (entry website)

Fun Prizes

Biggest Upset

Prizes for the biggest upset in each division. e.g. A low-rated player beating a high-rated player. The Biggest Upset prize is wholly at the descretion of the Organiser.

Biggest Gainer™

A special award for the player who gains the most rating points for the whole tournament. Note this is only for players with established ratings.

Can't make this event?

Queen's Cup events are held throughout the year. The events for 2021 are 24 Mar, 26 May, 28 Jul, 22 Sep and The Queen's Cup Championship on 24 Nov.

Can't make the 10am start time?

If you have a busy Wednesday morning, we do have the option to start late. If you come in late you will receive a half-point bye for the first two rounds. Please advise us if you intend to take up this option via the comments box when you register online.
