Online Teams National Finals 2022 Welcome Letter

On behalf of the team at Chess Power I want to wish you a very warm welcome to the Chess Power Online Teams National Finals 2022 Chess Championship Junior, Intermediate and Senior divisions

This year has been another year of challenge and disruption. We are starting to see the back of COVID and things are slowly returning to some form of normality. One of the good things that came out of COVID is it forced us to build an online Nationals. We have decided to keep the online versions of our National program to give an alternative option for students that are unable to travel.

This welcome letter is for the online Team Nationals. There is a separate welcome letter for the onsite Team Nationals, and the onsite and online Champions Trophy events, linked below.

Thank you for supporting our tamariki and giving them the opportunity to enjoy a truly memorable and unique experience. We really appreciate your support.

I am delighted to say we have 583 players registered for our National program of events. For the online teams nationals we have 116 players registered. We are excited and can't wait for the event to start and see the ultimate team battle begin!

We have put together a guide of what to expect at Online Teams Nationals and the rules that will govern the event. There is detailed information on how to use Tornelo and Zoom and how the event will work. It is very important that you read this so you will be prepared for the event properly.

We want to stress the importance of Fair Play. Essentially this means that you cannot gain assistance during your games in any way. You can read more about how we protect players in the guide.

Results of games for all divisions will be recorded live and are available on the website You can also use this link to see the other teams that will be participating in your division and the players that make up each team.

As this is a school teams event school uniforms are required. Video is required to be turned on so people can see you. We recommend you come best dressed as this shows your team is well organised.

The winning team in each division will be crowned the Chess Power Online Team National Champions for their division. The trophy will be engraved and couriered to the winning school.
