Beatrice Proverbs

What makes you a good coach?

I bring a patient, calm approach to teaching and I take time to listen to each student’s needs. I make sure everyone feels included and supported, and I enjoy teaching complex ideas in a way that’s fun, clear, and easy to understand.

Key strengths

My key strengths are patience, empathy, and time management. I’m a strong communicator and a willing listener, and I’m committed to ongoing growth—both in the students I teach and in my own skills as a coach.

Why do you love chess?

I love how chess challenges my strategic thinking and problem-solving. No two games are the same, so there’s always something to learn—whether I win or lose. Chess also develops my creativity and teaches me how to plan ahead effectively.

When did you first learn to play?

I first learned chess with my high school friends during lunchtime. I enjoyed it so much that I kept building my skills at home through online tutorials and by playing against online opponents.

Why do you enjoy working with kids?

I love seeing kids learn new skills—their curiosity and openness is inspiring. It’s especially rewarding to help build their confidence as they grow, improve, and enjoy learning in a fun, supportive environment.

Chess achievements

I’m a casual player who has loved chess since I was 12. I play regularly and enjoy learning new strategies at a beginner-to-intermediate level.

How do you think chess helps kids?

Chess helps kids develop patience, critical thinking, and concentration—skills that matter even more in a world where we’re used to getting instant answers from the internet and AI tools.
