Hall of Fame™

The Chess Power Hall of Fame™ celebrates junior chess players that have achieved an incredible milestone in their chess playing ability.

There are two ways to become a member of the Hall of Fame.

1. Achieving the Chess Power Junior Master™ Title

2. Achieving a FIDE Master title, International Master or Grandmaster title

  • Amanjot achieved the Junior Master title by coming 1st equal on tie-break along with Uros Ponjiger at the Chess Power Online Champions Trophy 2020 scoring 7.5 out of 9 points.
  • Uros achieved the Junior Master title by coming 1st on tie-break along with Amanjot Singh at the Chess Power Online Champions Trophy 2020 scoring 7.5 out of 9 points.
  • Artem scored a double coming 1st equal along with Ritika Joseph in the Chess Power Online Team Nationals 2020 Junior Division scoring a perfect 9 out of 9 points and then coming clear 1st place at the Chess Power Champions Trophy 2020 Junior division.
  • Hunter scored 8.5 out of 9 conceding just half a point at the Chess Power Team Nationals 2020 Junior division.
  • Toby earned his Junior Master title by winning the Chess Power Online Teams Nationals 2020 by scoring 8.5 points out of 9 and coming clear 1st place.
  • Tejasvi achieved a double by coming clear 1st place at the Chess Power Team Nationals 2020 Intermediate divison scoring 8 points out of 9 and then coming clear 1st in the Chess Power Champions Trophy 2020 Intermediate division with 8 points from 9.
  • Crystal came clear 1st place at the Chess Power Teams Nationals 2020 Senior divison scoring 8.5 out of 9 points.
  • JM Nathan Sun
    Nathan earned his JM title by participating in the Nationals Online Champions Trophy 2020 and achieving 8 out of 9 points and a first place result along with JM Ritika Joseph.
  • JM Ritika Joseph
    Ritika achieved a double Junior Master award but scoring 9 out of 9 at the Online Team Nationals 2020 and then the very next day coming first overall in the Online Champions Trophy 2020.
  • JM Kaeden Govender
    Recently arriving to New Zealand from South Africa, Kaeden achieved an incredible 9 out of 9 at the Chess Power Champions Trophy 2019 in a field of 115 players and was recognised with the JM title.
  • JM Lucas Xiao
    Lucas achieved his JM title by not losing a single game in the Intermediate division at the Chess Power Champions Trophy 2019.
  • JM Michael Lin
    Michael earned his JM titled at the Chess Power Teams Nationals 2019 scored 8 out of 9 points in the Senior division. Michael also came clear first in the super-strong Champions Trophy the following day, effectively winning the Junior Master title twice!
  • JM Baraa Al-Afaghani
    Baraa achieved his JM title by coming clear 1st at the Chess Power Teams Nationals intermediate division. Baraa didn't lose a single game at the event.
  • JM Oscar Qin
    Oscar earned his JM title by scoring a perfect 9 out of 9 at the Chess Power Teams Nationals 2019 Junior Division.
  • JM Max Stephens
    Max earned the JM title by winning the 2018 Champions Trophy whilst a year 10 student at Hamilton Boys’ High School. A keen sportsman, Max is also a member of his school’s first tennis team and has represented the Waikato-Bays tennis team at Nationals.
  • JM Joe Wang
    Joe earned his JM title by scoring the highest number of points in the intermediate division of the Chess Power Teams National Finals 2017.
  • JM Sarah Yan
    Sarah earned her JM title by competing in the Chess Power Teams National Finals 2017 and scoring 1st equal individually along with JM Christopher Schramm.
  • JM Christopher Schramm
    Christopher earned his JM title by competing in the Chess Power Teams National Finals 2017 and scoring 1st equal individually along with JM Sarah Yan.
  • JM John Yanes
    John earned the Junior Master title by winning the Champions Trophy in 2016. He then won it again in 2017! Remarkable as he won the 2016 event as an intermediate player and comes from the rural town of Reefton.
  • JM Justine Aubrey Cortez
    Justine earned her JM title as the top senior player in the Champions Trophy 2017.
  • JM Anya Thurner
    Anya earned her title by winning the Junior division of the Champions Trophy 2017. The following day she was also the top junior at the Teams National Finals 2017 - so if it was possible she effectively earned the title twice!
