Coach Profiles

We have a number of great Accredited Professional Chess Coaches. Our Chess Coaches have been trained specifically to bring the best out of children with encouraging, supportive feedback in a fun and friendly environment.

We have coaches available throughout the Auckland area and we do make regular trips to the rest of the country several times each year running Chess Power Interschool Tournaments as well as group coaching programmes and Chess Open Days.

You can read more about how a coach can help you but referring to information on our Private Coaching for individuals or our Coaching Programme for groups.

Kids bring a fresh perspective to the game, challenging orthodox ideas and helping me improve my own game.
  • Aadil Misbah
I enjoy helping kids discover the joy of chess, building their confidence, and showing them how the skills they learn, like focus, patience, and planning ahead apply both on and off the board.
  • Michael Law
I believe children should learn why a move is good and why a move is bad, rather than just memorising openings.

  • Nicholas Fulton
Chess teaches children to think ahead and see the bigger picture, an invaluable skill in today’s world. It also helps bring kids together through a shared interest, encouraging even the more introverted players to connect and grow.
